Lake Willoughby Vermont Fall Elopement | September 27th, 2024
Allison and Caleb embraced adventure for their Vermont fall elopement by traveling north from Massachusetts for an intimate and relaxed getaway. The couple planned their day around their dog Ivy--staying at a pet friendly Airbnb and choosing dog-friendly locations and hikes for their day trips. From their backyard first look to their vows at Sentinel Rock, their day was truly unique to each of them--reflecting their love of nature, private relationship, and love for their dog Ivy.
Lake Willoughby + Sentinel Rock | Westmore, VT
Located in the heart of Westmore looking above the surrounding mountains, Sentinel Rock is one of my favorite views in Vermont. With beautiful fields and mountain views, there are endless opportunities for photos along the gentle hiking trails at Sentinel Rock. And just down the road, Lake Willoughby is one of the most well known landmarks in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. With towering mountains on either side, the lake is the result of a glacier that carved through the earth millions of years ago. Lake Willoughby is known as one of the more iconic locations in Vermont to experience the fall foliage, with thousands of tourists visiting the area each year.
Lake Willoughby Vermont Fall Elopement | The Story
Allison and Caleb began their day with a slow morning and coffee at their Airbnb just north of Lake Willoughby. Allison donned a blush tulle ballgown dress complete with llama socks and hiking boots, while Caleb was equally dapper in a dark blue suit, red tie, and hiking shoes. They each had dried florals, hers with a bouquet and his with a boutonniere. Their dog Ivy was given her own special outfit, a white collar engraved with her name and a pearl.
After getting dressed in separate rooms, the two had their first look in the backyard of their Airbnb. Then they hopped in the car and headed up to Sentinel Rock, just up the road from where they were staying. They recited their vows along one of the hiking trails as the clouds were rolling over the valley below. We then headed down to Lake Willoughby South Beach, and got some just married photos along the shoreline and the iconic mountain view. They hiked along the South Shore Loop Trail and headed over to the Mt. Pisgah Trail to explore the forest. Once we returned to the parking lot, it was time for our goodbyes. The pair and their pup later explored a nearby corn maze—the largest in Vermont—and finished off the day with a maple creemee! How iconic Vermont is that?
Congratulations, Allison and Caleb, on your lovely and intimate Vermont fall elopement. Wishing the both of you and Ivy endless happiness and love in your journey together!
