Nature-Inspired Vermont Wildflower Wedding | July 1st, 2023

Margot and Nic spent the first day of July celebrating their love with an emotional, intimate Vermont wildflower wedding. The pair planned a joyful summer event in the mountains of Vermont at Sleepy Hollow Inn. Every detail of their day was personal and colorful - from their name cards handmade with paper from Margot's students, to their DIY wildflower bouquets, to their seed packet guest gifts. Perhaps one of the most touching aspects of their day was their beautiful vows--Margot's handwritten on parchment and filled with personal tidbits and a Mary Oliver poem or two. It was safe to say there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd as their guests were overwhelmed with the love that these two share for each other. Margot and Nic's families flew from all around the country and across the world--his family from Australia and her's from France--to celebrate their love story at the place where it all started: Vermont.

The Venue: Sleepy Hollow Inn | Huntington, Vermont

For those looking for a small and quintessentially Vermont wedding venue, put Sleepy Hollow Inn on your list! This beautiful inn is just south of Burlington in the woodland town of Huntington, Vermont. This venue is a favorite for couples who want to customize their entire day by having the freedom to choose their own food + beverage vendors and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery. Sleepy Hollow Inn offers lodging for up to 20 guests, so the bridal party and family can stay on site in one of their rustic rooms. In addition, the Inn also offers access to mountain biking, hiking, cross country ski and snowshoeing trails--right out their front door!

Nature-Inspired Wildflower Wedding: The Story

Margot and Nic both prepped for their wedding day on site at Sleepy Hollow Inn. Margot spend the morning with her bridesmaids and family members putting together bouquets with flowers from Stitchdown Farms. Nic was also running around, making sure their bridal party had everything they needed to make the day run smoothly. Margot and Nic planned an afternoon ceremony at the gazebo next to the pond on the property, right between the inn where they got ready and the reception barn where the party was soon to begin. During cocktail hour, many lawn games were played, group photos with faraway friends and family were taken, while a slideshow of childhood photos of Margot and Nic played in the background.

Guests were in love with the unique and special touches throughout the day--from wildflower and candle centerpieces to vintage postcards instead of a guest book. Margot's students even made the watercolor paper that was used to create the name cards for each guest! It was truly a Vermont wildflower fairytale wedding.

After dinner and speeches, guests danced the night away while I stole Margot and Nic for some magic moments out in the forest. Take a look at their beautiful bridal portraits below! When we returned, we were treated to a delicious spread of cake from Sweet Simone's (also decorated with wildflower petals), and even vegan and gluten free cupcakes from Swift Planet Bakes. A perfect way to end the evening!

Congratulations, you two on your stunning Vermont wildflower wedding. I wish you so much happiness and love for the many years ahead!
